Amazing staff. They really do go the extra mile. The woman owner (can't remember her name) walked us to the closest electronics store to purchase a powerplug converter. The next morning we asked her to call a cab so she ran through the rain to hail one for us. Unbelievable. She's amazing. \ The rooms and facilities are super clean and very comfortable. Remember this is a budget hotel but it was among the best we've stayed in - ever. Highly recommend it.

The location was excellent, only a few minutes walk from Peace Memorial Park, A-Bomb Dom, ferries to Miyajima and Ondori shopping area. The owner speaks very poor english but tries to do her best to help so this was OK. Very large room.

Not much details are paid to the decoration, somewhat old-fashioned and not really cosy.

Some noise early, maybe unlucky this time. One single shower for all the ryokan hotel

Very nice and helpful people running this Ryokan. No problem to leave the bags there already from early in the morning upon arrival (before check-in) and they helped us to make reservations for a museum. Always with a smile.

nice old couple, very friendly, quite traditional room with good clean facilities.

Staff was very helpful in suggesting restaurants and told us how to take a tram to the train station instead of wasting money on a taxi. The water pressure in the shower and bath was excellent. The A-Bomb Dome and museum are close by -- a ten minute walk -- and shopping and restaurants are surrounding the hotel.

The rooms are a bit run down, but clean and very spacious.

I wanted to try the Ryokan experience of sleeping on a tatami floor; found it comfortable. Chizuru is well located for the major sights of Hiroshima and also for lots of restaurants. It's easy to get to from the train station using the tram. It is on a quiet street and the house itself was quiet. Although there seems to be only one shower (downstairs from my room) I didn't have a problem getting to use it. There was a toilet on my floor for shared use.

Fantastic location in the heart of the city. Lovely large simple room at a very good price. Owner was very friendly and gave us plenty of space. Only really saw here when arriving and leaving. Only a few other guests, which made it a very relaxing, quiet retreat at the end of the day.

Only one single occupancy shower\bath room shared between all rooms. Not really an issue and never had to wait, but doesn't compare well with other Ryokans. However, this is reflected in the price and there are toilets and sinks on each floor, so was never an issue. Aircon in the rooms but not turned on in the hallways, which were really really warm. I can entirely understand why (not many guests when we stayed, expensive electricity at the moment and it was very hot by day).

This is a nice, welcoming, value-for-money place to stay in Hiroshima. It's a 20 minute tram ride from the jr station, but very close to the Peace Park, the dome and a few covered shopping streets. The lady who runs the place is lovely but does not speak english so you'll have to head to the tourist centre if you want advice on what to do in the city. (The flowers she arranges around the foyer area are beautiful.) If you are looking for a more western-style breakfast, turn left as you leave the Ryokan and then left at the end of the street. One block down on the corner on your left (just as you hit the undercover mall) there's a European coffee/bread/breakfast cafe. As with many places in Japan that are old or built in the traditional style with wooden sliding doors, it can be a little noisy. So just bring a pair of earplugs. Overall, I enjoyed my stay here and for a private room with a TV, it was great value for money.

I'm not sure if I was just unlucky or if I have a sensitive head, but the pillow was really hard and uncomfortable and I had to use my aeroplane one.

The proprietors were very nice and helpful (they recommended a delicious okinomiyaki establishment and gave us a recommendation for breakfast). The rooms were clean but small. The location is amazing - under a 10 minute walk from the Peace Memorial and all the shopping. Hiroshima is an absolutely beautiful city and this lodging gave us the opportunity to spend more time out and about.

Unfortunately there was only one bath for the entire establishment as far as I could tell, so there was a small line by the time I got there. However, for the price, I thought that was acceptable. I still enjoyed my stay.

    Location & the owners.

Smelly toilets, do not take credit cards, no Internet, shared bathrooms, noisy at night.

This is a fantastic little Ryokan in the centre of Hiroshima, very easy to get to from the bus station, and only a short tram ride from the railway station - hope off at Hondori or Fukuromachi - the latter is the location of the bank building just under where the A bomb was detonated. The Ryokan is very handy (a few minute walk) for all the shops and the A bomb museum and park. There are lots of local restaurants nearby and if you don't like a Japanese breakfast there is a coffee shop just at the end of the street. The rooms are not large but comfy - you do need to share the bathroom and toilet though, which is no big deal - if you like your own facilities in the "western bubble" style of accommodation, go elsewhere. The owners are very friendly and helpful - they even bring you a cup of green tea and biscuit on arrival - note not a lot of English spoken. Would definitely stay there again and the value for money and experience of traditional ryokan accommodation is outstanding.

It's easy to find and the cost is reasonable.

The lock of the room I stayed seems not strong enough!

  • Couple

Chizuru was very convenient, very clean and the room was very spacious. The price was fitting for the quality of room and location. The woman who runs the Ryokan was very kind, and tried to communicate with us.

The restroom area was very awkward/cramped. Not very 'homey.' There is only one sink upstairs and it does not have hot water for washing up. We had read about other travelers' complaints about the hall light staying on all night, so we just unscrewed the lightbulb each night to make it dark, which seemed to work fine. We were welcomed by the owner, but not as friendly as another Ryokan we tried near there.

The staff was very kind and helpful! It also a very positive experience of Japanese culture.

Not possible to pay by redit card. Bathroom was always occupied, may be thye should consider building a second bathroom.
